Thomas Bangalter / SONGS FOR ANREALAGE

French musician Thomas Bangalter. In addition to electronic music, he has also composed for orchestra for the ballet *Mythologies*.

Kunihiko Morinaga and Thomas Bangalter first met in 2024. Their encounter was sparked by the new ballet *Mirage*, created by Damien Jalet and Kohei Nawa for the Grand Th??tre de Gen?ve Ballet. Bangalter composed the music, while Morinaga designed the costumes. The composer, who has spent 30 years exploring the relationship between humans and technology, and the designer, who has continually questioned the boundaries between clothing and technology. Their dialogue continued even after the production ended, leading to a collaboration at Paris Fashion Week.

In the Fall/Winter 2025?26 “SCREEN” collection, garments incorporating thousands of LEDs became fabric screens capable of endlessly changing their display. Bangalter composed the music for the show under his own name. At the American Cathedral in Paris, the moment light flickered across the screen-like garments, the sounds that had been held in suspense came to life.

In the subsequent Spring/Summer 2026 “?” collection, themed “? (HEART SIGN),” garments adorned with works by HERALBONY artists gave form to life itself. For this show, Bangalter created an original score that layered the sound of a heartbeat with the sounds of the artists’ daily creative processes.

What the two share is a sensibility born from standing at the intersection of humanity and technology, creating within the margins of experimentation. While avant-garde, their work deeply engages the senses and is accessible to everyone. It embodies a commitment to ensuring that experimentation remains open to all. Sounds that were once fleeting events now take on a tangible form for the first time.

The music Thomas Bangalter created for “SCREEN” and “?” will be pressed and released as a vinyl record at The Vinyl Factory, the former EMI factory in Hayes, a suburb of London. At this historic factory, the two Paris shows have been etched onto a single record.
